The November report digs into earthmoving equipment data, with detailed volume & pricing charts for large construction assets like articulated dump trucks, hydraulic excavators, and dozers, as well as breakdowns for compact equipment categories like skid steer loaders and loader backhoes.
The biggest trend seen in this report overall is the continued rise in popularity of compact equipment. A perfect example of this can be seen through U.S. excavator sales, where large unit volumes are down significantly, while mini excavator sales have increased.
Today, smaller equipment is much more powerful than it used to be, capable of doing a lot more work. However, there are still a lot of jobs that require larger machines.
In the U.S., large excavator volumes are down, while prices are up. Excavator prices are also on the rise in Canada while volumes decline. Meanwhile, volumes & prices for mini excavators in the U.S. and Canada have both increased in 2022.
Looking at wheel loaders and dozer sales, you will see similar trends, especially in the United States. In
the U.S., dozers and wheel loaders have seen price declines in Q3, while loader backhoes and skid steer loaders have increased in price.
In Canada, with smaller overall volumes, pricing for dozers and wheel loaders have are still seeing a slight uptick this year, while compact equipment like multi- terrain and skid steer loaders have experienced more substantial increases.
