The new YANMAR CBL40 is the latest in compact backhoe loaders and it features a heavy duty durable, single frame. This machine is built from the ground up for the professional customer seeking high performance in a compact, easy to transport unit. This is not an adapted ag tractor but rather the CBL40 was designed from start to finish on the basis of a large tractor loader backhoe.

It features the newly developed YANMAR "HMT" (Hydro-Mechanical Transmission). The HMT means no range shifting during loader operation. The highly efficient transmission provides both low fuel consumption and high performance simultaneously.

The CBL40 has an operating weight of 7750 lbs. and measures just 19'5" in length, just less than 6' wide and 8'5" high when in transport mode with the bucket. It has a maximum forward travel speed of 13.7 MPH and in a top reverse speed of 7.8 MPH. It features a two variable piston pump hydraulic system which delivers great response and control sensitivity even in multiple operations.

The loader has a clearance of 7'3" with the bucket dumped. The maximum lift height of the loader to the pivot pin is a full 9'6" with a lift capacity of 2866 pounds (not including bucket weight). The breakout force by the bucket cylinder is 4850 pounds. The loader includes the mechanical self leveling feature as standard equipment.

The backhoe has a maximum digging depth of 10' and a truck loading height of 8'4". Its maximum reach at ground level to swing spot is 13'2". The CBL40 backhoe has a bucket digging force of 5798 lbs. while the digging force of the arm tops out at 3582 lbs. The boom swing angle is a full 180°


  1. Operator's View - The short hood design provides the operator with excellent bucket visibility.
  2. Servicing - The fully-opening, one piece engine hood facilitates daily maintenance. The hydraulic oil is kept separate from the transmission oil which keeps the hydraulic system clean.
  3. Bucket Leveling - The CBL40 features a mechanical parallel link for automatic bucket leveling. Lift arm raising and lowering is controlled by a single lever control, and the angle of the bucket or pallet fork is maintained for seamless loading and carrying.
  4. Rear PTO and Three Point Hitch Options - Operational rear PTO and three point hitch are available for various attachments such as a rotary cutter, auger, tiller or box scraper.
  5. Quick Coupler - The mechanical quick coupler feature of the CBL40 compact backhoe loader expedites the changing of attachments.
